How My Passion for Marketing Began

There have been very few moments in my life when I’ve been absolutely certain about a decision. Dedicating myself fully to digital marketing was one of them. However, it wasn’t an easy journey.
I graduated from Colegio San Agustín in Panama City, a highly pragmatic and disciplined school that primarily produces lawyers, doctors, and engineers. Without a clear idea of what I wanted to do with my life, I decided to pursue something that “didn’t bother me too much”—mathematics. I knew my path would be somewhat unconventional, and I was willing to embrace it.
I chose a rather uncommon major—Actuarial Science—which, at the time, wasn’t even available to study in Panama. I began my studies at QLU (Quality Leadership University), one of the American universities in Panama, where I spent two years before transferring to the U.S. to complete my degree. Right before leaving, I decided to make a change to broaden my career opportunities. I ended up majoring in Finance with a minor in Actuarial Science. While in the U.S., I also added a minor in Entrepreneurship, which marked another phase of my life—but that’s a story for another blog.
After graduating, I returned to Panama, joined Copa’s Treasury department, and a year later, I got certified as a Zumba instructor. Motivated by this, I didn’t just teach classes—I also organized major events and special sessions.
With all this experience, I decided to make a career shift—one that I believed would make me happier because it aligned better with my personality, the environment I wanted to be in, and how I wanted to spend my time. Ultimately, this became the most important reason for me to wake up every morning.
I tried to transfer to the Marketing department… but I didn’t get selected. I understood the reasons why and decided to pursue my first master's degree in Marketing in Panama to gain more relevant knowledge. While studying for my master’s and one year after my initial application, I decided to try again. This time, I got lucky—I was selected.
Many factors contributed to this success, but what truly mattered was that I took the risk to make a bold move—one I believed would be the best fit for me.
Six years later, amidst a global pandemic, I took on another major change—this time to expand my expertise in Digital Marketing while making a broader life transition. This shift turned out to be radical in every aspect of my life, but that’s also a topic for another blog.
After completing my second master's degree, this time with additional knowledge in E-business, I was finally able to start applying what I had learned.
Where I Am Today
Today, I enjoy working with my clients, campaigns, and everything around me—seeing how digital marketing can be applied to any product, service, or industry. I focus on understanding each company’s needs, priorities, and challenges—putting myself in their shoes and doing everything I can to develop ideas that maximize results.
In a future blog, I’ll share more about the different campaigns and their outcomes.
